.From the Editor's Desk:

As many of you know, I have taken on a new business endeavor recently, and I have had to accept the reality that I can no longer effectively serve as the newsletter editor/information officer for the neighborhood.
I have enjoyed being part of the board and having a role of leadership in the neighborhood, but it is time to let someone else have all this fun!   The new editor, who will be selected at the December meeting, will welcome your help,  and I know he or she can count on you!
Thanks for all the help you have given me in this project, and thanks for the willingness to overlook typos and for your praise when I got it right!  Please remove my telephone number as the person to call with questions and put the new information officer's number there instead.  Although I will still be an active participant in neighborhood events and issues, I will not be the person with the answers!
I wish all of you a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous, healthy and happy New Year.

  Sincerely, Nancy Battles

Woodlea Historic District a Reality!
We're almost there!  The Planning Commission will meet on December 9th and if there are no objections at that time, the proposal will go before the City Council on January 20th for final approval.  Although these are open meetings our input is not required.  Our input and presence was important at the September 21st meeting, and we sure did give our opinion!  There were over 30 in attendance at that meeting with 100% support! Thanks to all of you who attended and wrote supporting letters.
So how will you know twhen it's official? You can bet the Woodlea folks will do something special to let you know!

Report on the Fall Cleanup Activity
Thanks to those who came out Saturday, Nov. 14th , to help in  the neighborhood cleanup.  We are especially grateful for the participation of the members of the (get Church name) .  We met Pastor at the 7th Avenue Street Festival and he promised that his congregation would be helpers...and they were!  We did a great job cleaning up 7th Avenue again.  What we did not know was the empty lot on 7th and Montecito, owned by Eller Advertising Company, had been cited for trash by the city.  We performed an unexpected good deed by cleaning it up!  We have written a letter to Eller reminding them of their community responsibility.
